I filmed this vlog series entirely on GoPro and the result is bringing you up close and personal into our experience to come along with us for this epic travel adventure.

My name is Roxanne Taylor and I’m a video journalist from Australia and my friend Hannah Buck is an Australian TV producer who became the best travel buddy anyone could ask for.

In this first episode in Istanbul, we tried so much local food, baklava, Turkish bread and shisha; travelled to the Asian side of Istanbul by ferry; and explored the Taxim Square shopping district.

There are more than 3,000 mosques in Istanbul and my favourite was the Suleymanye Mosque which features in this video. We found a secret rooftop restaurant spot just outside with an amazing view of the entire city of Istanbul.

Stay tuned for the next episode where we head to Canakkale, the harbour town filled with cats, and Gallipoli for a dose of war history at Anzac Cove.

This is a completely non-comprehensive guide to Istanbul as it’s a raw account of my own journey as it unfolded so please post your suggestions for other must-see places in Istanbul in the comments below.
