Visiting Canakkale & Gallipoli in Turkey

In episode 2 of Roxanne Taylor Media’s TRAVEL TURKEY GoPro Video Series we go to Canakkale the harbour filled with cats and Gallipoli for a dose of World War One history at Anzac Cove. WATCH VIDEO:

Canakkale and Gallipoli

We stayed at a hostel in Canakkale called Anzac House in our own private twin room which felt like a luxury after a dormitory stay at the previous place. It’s a family run business and the owner’s daughter Ezgi who checked us in was so amazingly helpful with organising our Gallipoli tour and our onward travel.

It’s recommended to stay at Canakkale if you want to be close by for the Gallipoli tours. I don’t usually do tours but you kind of need to for Gallipoli because it is so spread out and quite remote – unless you have your own car! However, if you do drive around yourself you will need a detailed information map because there are no clear signs at a lot of the significant spots.

You have to watch the video to see how freaking cute the cats were here at Canakkale – they are so happy for affection!

Roxanne Taylor Media travel series

My name is Roxanne Taylor and I’m a video journalist from Australia and my friend Hannah Buck is an Australian TV producer who became the best travel buddy anyone could ask for.

Stay tuned for the next episode where we head to Selcuk and walked the ancient ruins of Ephesus.

This is a completely non-comprehensive guide to Canakkale as it’s a raw account of my own journey as it unfolded so please post your suggestions for other must-see places in the comments below.
