TRAVEL VIDEO: Sun, surf and vibes in Arugam Bay, Sri Lanka

The locals call it ‘Magical Arugam Bay’ because people come for a few days and end up staying longer. That is exactly what happened to us.

Three nights turned into almost two weeks and we loved it! Surfing was the main focus of our time here, visiting all the local breaks including Elephant Rock, Whiskey Point, Peanut Farm, Pottuvil Point, Main Point and Baby Point.

Some of the surf breaks were quite crowded but you could still find quiet times to go. The dishes of choice are rice and curry, and rotis. We found it very easy to eat vegetarian in Sri Lanka.

We stayed at a beachside budget hotel before moving to a homestay with a local family a short walk away. We’ll definitely return to magical Arugam Bay.
